Foreign Recall Raises Questions
Ford has been aware of Bridgestone/Firestone tire failures in markets outside of North America and Venezuela for more than one year. In fact, all Bridgestone/Firestone tires were voluntarily replaced by Ford in certain middle east countries OVER ONE YEAR AGO. This voluntary recall was initiated immediately after blowout incidents, rollovers and deaths.
Why didn't Ford begin a tire replacement program in the U.S. at the same time the replacement program was initiated in overseas markets? Why is Ford limiting the recall in the U.S. to 15" tires only, when ALL Bridgestone/Firestone tires were replaced in other markets? Does Ford value the lives of its customers in other markets more than its U.S. customers?; or is it really only about money?
