Recall Overview

KENNETH H. from CANTONMENT, FL

I TOOK MY EXPLORER TO MY LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALER ON 9/20/00. AFTER HAVING A FIRESTONE ASSOCIATE CHECK MY TIRES I WAS TOLD MY TIRES WERE NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. (ASSOCIATE ONLY LOOKED AT FRONT RIGHT TIRE). ON 9/23/00 I WAS TRAVELING TO AUBURN, ALABAMA FOR A FOOTBALL GAME. DURING MY TRIP THE TREAD ON MY LEFT FRONT CAME APART. WHEN I RETURNED HOME AND WAS ABLE TO GET MY VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER TO GET AN ESTIMATE ON DAMAGES DONE TO MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THAT 4 OUT OF 5 TIRES ON MY VEHICLE HAD THE "VD" CODE ON THEM. MY TWO REAR TIRES WHICH WERE SHOWING SIGNS OF TREAD COMING OFF. MY SPARE TIRE AND THE TIRE THAT THE TREAD CAME OFF OF. THE ONLY TIRE NOT COVERED WAS THE RIGHT FRONT. MY QUESTION IS WHY WERE ALL 5 OF MY TIRES NOT LOOKED AT. THIS IS INEXCUSABLE AND THOUGH I AM NOT DEAD OR INJURED WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS MISHAP.
